Color Me Blood Red Reviews

Third Rate, And Third Entry In The 'Blood Trilogy' FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
Herschell Gordon Lewis' films are direct and to the point. They're about gore. Not story, not acting. G-O-R-E. Which can be polarizing, creating masses of people that hate or ignore your work, as well as a solid fanbase of die-hard supporters.
I count myself among the latter, and though I have not seen ALL of Lewis' films, I do like the "Blood Trilogy" quite a bit. Also, I have long been a big fan of the type of showmanship exhibited by filmmakers like Lewis and producer David F. Friedman. So, what's not to like?
Well, "Color Me Blood Red" is the third entry in the trilogy, preceded by "Blood Feast" and "Two Thousand Maniacs". And "Color Me Blood Red", unfortunately, lacks much of the style and quality of the first two.
It revolves around a rather disturbed painter named Adam Sorg, whose canvases mostly suck. He gets a lot better, supposedly, when he paints with blood, but this being a no-budget production, his 'better' paintings also suck. There was clearly no 'art department' on hand for the shooting of this one. Anyway, he can only get so much blood out of his own self, so he takes to murdering other clueless idiots (starting with his grating, shrieky girlfriend) to create his 'masterpieces'. The daughter of an air-headed art patron becomes the focus of Sorg's obsession, and it's anyone's guess as to whose blood will finally end up in the paint can.
The actor who portrays Adam Sorg is hammy, but not in the same fun, over-the-top way as Fuad Ramses in "Blood Feast". More in a bloated, mentally-deficient way. This film also lacks the sense of mischevious fun present in "Two Thousand Maniacs".
"Color Me Blood Red" is, by far, the least 'artistic' (ironically enough) and most boring of the "Blood Trilogy", and it ends this particular trio of films with a whimper rather than a bang.

Interesting, but could be refined FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
This movie has a good story to it, but it could be improved. Besides the corny music(which is mostly just jazz and does not fit good into the scenes) and bad sound editing(too much echoing) this movie is pretty good. I watched this movie to see the gore, although I must admit, this movie did not had as much gore as I imagined. Given the few gore scenes(I recount about 5 gorey scenes), it was pretty devastating and heart-wrenching. However, this movie poses a lot of questions pertaining to the characters. The main character, Adam Sorg, seems to be provoked very easily, and as the box says that he kills people so he can use their blood as paint. Well there is one scene where one kill was completely unprovoked and, let's just say he made someone food for the fish, in which he wasted the blood he could've used, but it was a entertaining scene.

Overall, I enjoyed this movie, except that it was rather short and not enough action. There was too much useless and boring dialogue. Unless you are a H.G.L. fan or you just want to see some plain gore, this movie isn't really good for much else.
