Excellent Film
This was a fabulous film. I loved the charecters and the life of the French countryside. Also the scenes with chocolat are delicious.

A Delicious story....wonderful characters
Chocolat is a sweet but treacherous, seductive but innocent movie about one woman who changes the lives of the people in a small town in France. All the people of the town are expected to be proper; they are to go to church, never swear, drink, or even indulge in anything that would bring happiness. They are expected to completely resist all temptations, and the conniving town mayor (Alfred Molina) is the one who enforces these rules. Well, Vianne (Juliette Binoche) moves into town right as the people are beginning to have Lent (a time of sacrifice and refusal of sinful or pleasurable things). Vianne does not attend church, and she has an illegitimate daughter named Anouk. And worst of all, she opens a chocolate shop.

Vianne's chocolaterie is like a blinding gleam of light in this gloomy, lifeless town. At first, everyone thinks it is evil. But ultimately they realize that her chocolate shop is actually a little piece of heaven in itself, and everyone slowly begins to give in and enjoy the delicious and magical chocolate that Vianne makes.

The best part about this movie is getting to know the characters. Every character in this movie is wonderful. Even the sneaky mayor is lovable. The young artistic boy, his corrupted grandmother, his controlling mother, the young pastor, the sweet old man and his dog, the lady who buys chocolate to "awaken the passion", Vianne's closest friend, the abused housewife who eventually helps her run the store, and especially Roux (Johnny Depp ^_^), the rough but handsome gypsy that Vianne can't help falling for...ahhh...........they are all such interesting people. You will love each and every one of them! You just have to watch this movie to know what I'm talking about!

This is an outstanding movie. If you're skeptical about seeing it then I'll give you two reasons why you should:

1) As I have already said, the characters in this movie are wonderful. I love how their relationships slowly progress, and by the end of the movie, they have all become better people.
2) Johnny Depp!



Deliciously Depp!
I loved this movie. Great story line. A MUST SEE for any one who loves chocolate &/or Johnny Depp...his sexiest role yet.
