Catwoman Reviews
AVOID THIS MOVIE IT RIPS OFF DARK ANGEL
This fake "Catwoman" movie looks and sounds a lot like the old Fox series Dark Angel Jim Cameron made in 2001. Take a look at some of the similarities and you'll see that this "catwoman" is a blatant Dark Angel rip-off.
Both are set in the future. Dark Angel is set in Seattle 2020. Catwoman is set in a futuristic city called Lake city set out in the West coast.
Both main characters are part animal. Max From Dark Angel is genetically engineered to be part woman part cat. Patience Phillips gets catlike powers.
Both fight major coporations. Max From Dark Angel Fights Manticore, the organization that created her. Patience Phillips fights Hedare Cosmetics the evil corporation that created her.
Max is on a quest to find others like herself. Patience is "one of nine fake catwomen."
In the first season, Max's principal enemy in the first season was Manticore exec Lydecker. Patience Phillips Main Enemy is Executive Laurel Hedare.
Both Max and Patience Phillips ride sleek black Motorcycles when fighting crime.
Both Max and Patience Phillips wear Black leather outfits with holes in the legs of their pants during their crimefighting jaunts. Max wears lowrider pants with lace up holes in the front thighs and Patience wears lowrider pants with slashes in the front of the thighs.
Both Max and Patience Phillips had White Male love intersts. Max had the "Eyes Only"character played by Michael Weatherly and Patence had Tom Lone played by Benjamin Bratt.
Both Halle Berry and Jessica Alba are mixed race. Halle Berry is half black half white and
Jessica Alba is half Irish/German/latino mix.
Dark Angel was an overhypred critically acclaimed flop
Catwoman will be an overhyped critically reviled flop.
The only difference between these two programs is that "catwoman" has a whip and a mask.
Warner Brothers is pulling the wool over our eyes. They want to get people to spend $10 to see something they already saw done better on TV for free two years ago.
Jim Cameron should sue the WB. This is a clear case of copyright infringement.
Not Selina Kyle? Perhaps not Catwoman at all!
Being a fan of both Batman and Catwoman comics, I'm a little upset about the premise of this movie. The main character is not going to be Selina Kyle?!? She's been Catwoman in the comics for over 60 years. Hello WB!! The action is not going to take place in Gotham City but in "Lake City" instead. Also, the "Catwoman" character is going to be killed and brought back to life as Catwoman just like Michelle Pfeiffer's Catwoman in Batman Returns. In the comics Selina Kyle was just a very smart jewel thief with catlike tendencies. She dressed as a cat and was very acrobatic. She had an exciting love/hate relationship with Bruce Wayne/Batman. There was no hocus pocus about bringing a dead woman back to life as a half human, half cat being. I think that Tim Burton did that scenario as well as it could possibly be done in Batman Returns and that movie did not give a really good representation of Catwoman either. Can you imagine a Batman film where Batman is not Bruce Wayne? No, because they would never rewrite comic book history and change such a "beloved character". Well, WB needs to understand that Catwoman is beloved also and those of us who have followed her through the years want her to stay true to her roots. I'm a big fan of Halle Berry. I thought she was an excellent choice to play Selina Kyle/Catwoman. Then I find out she's going to be Patience Phillips...not Selina Kyle! Perhaps after I see the film I will change my mind. But imagine Catwoman stealing her way to riches in Gotham City. Running from and being drawn to Batman, who's also drawn to her, while Selina Kyle and Bruce Wayne strike up a romance because they just seem to fit. Each one not knowing who the other really is. Doesn't that sound like a better film? I think so.
