Buck Rogers is probably my favorite Sci-Fi TV serial. Used to be Dr. Who but Buck is better. The cheeze factor of all sci-fi series must be ignored as part of the charm. Personally I liked the second season of BR better because of Hawk and the more Cerebrel nature of the show courtesy of Dr. Goodfellow. Season Two was more into adventure for knowledge rather than downfalling a bad dood. This DVD is of the first seasn though which I also like. Wilma Daring has a much better presance in the first season as the flight leader and next to head of Earth Defense Directorate.(EDD I guess) and is a lot better looking to boot(and jumpsuit). The first story deals with Buck Roger's awakening from deep freeze and dealing with the faked Diplomancy vessle of Princess Ardalla and Kain(whom Henry Silva should have reprised in future episodes.) I am glad this is released on DVD I just hope the epilogue and other story driven parts are not cut as in the VHS release which bothered me. 5 smackers for the show the DVD isn't out yet so I can't really say about it. I see absolutely no reason at all not to release ALL of the Episodes from BOTH seasons on DVD as was the case with other serials. People are diverse and different and like BOTH seasons(depending on individual tastes). Cheesy but fun.
I can't believe this series isn't on DVD. It was dumb fun for us kids 20 years ago and it can be again. I hope they release the whole (2 year) series on DVD soon. BUCK ROGERS IN THE 20TH CENTURY
I LIKE THE FIRST SEASON BETTER THAN THE SECOND SEASON. I DON'T KNOW WHY THEY CHANGE THE SECOND SEASON. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE SECOND SEASON IS LIKE A DIFFERENT STORY FROM THE FIRST SEASON. THE FIRST SEASON IS COVERT OPERATIONS AND THE WAY TO HELP OTHERS IN DISTRESS. THE SECOND SEASON IS LIKE THE "STAR TREK" SERIES WITH POOR SUBSTITUTIONS FOR DR. HUER AND DR. THEOPOLIS, EXEPT FOR HAWK.
