Excessive Use of Romantic Force
The actors are more than wooden, most of them. Gary Oldman overacts and goes into pure camp territory. But if you are a romantic soul, you may be swayed by the ancient love story, glorious sets and costumes and great music, not to mention heavy breathing, sexy vampire brides (watch out for a young Monica Belucci!) and general air of Victorian decadence. And nice dose of dark humour, with a cameo by Tom Waits as Renfield. Tom has fun eating bugs and freaking decent people out.
This movie is really over the top, but it somehow works. It's not scary, it's not very logical and takes many liberties with the original novel, but as a feast for the eyes and the romantic hearts, it's great.

He can turn into mist AND fog!
This movie holds a special place in my heart as "most fun to mock". I don't even know where to begin on how bad it is. Let's start with the acting: Keanu Reeves gives one of the worst performances ever captured on film. For extra fun, watch him while he's not talking. "Should I make a facial expression now? Yes... maybe... no, false alarm. Oh, hey, I have a line coming up... concentrate... English accent... NOW!" Winona Ryder is unremarkable. Anthony Hopkins sinks his teeth into the cheesiness of the movie with an enthusiastic "JAH!", and is a pleasure to watch. Gary Oldman gets an enthusiastic "eh".

Sure, it's a beautiful movie, but high production values do not make the script or the acting any more tolerable. Plus, the directing from Francis Ford Coppola is so overly artsy and pretentious you'd think he was fresh out of film school.

There were a lot of unnecessary sexual elements in this: the pointless nudity, the lesbian kiss, the bestiality. This movie claims to be faithful to the original text, but one of the major plot points, **spoiler** Mina and Dracula falling in love and getting "redeemed" at the end, **end spoiler** wasn't even in the book, and is so contrived it will have you slamming your head against the nearest blunt object.

I'll admit it, I bought the movie, but only because my vicious rampages against it made my friends want to see it. That's the only concievable reason I can see buying this movie, really: to watch, and mock, and laugh.

BUENA FOTOGRAFIA, VESTUARIO IMPRESIONANTE, GRAN ESCENOGRAFIA, EN FIN ES UN BUEN FILM CON UN BIEN DIRECTOR.

GARY OLDMAN HACE QUIZA NO EL MEJOR DRACULA DE TODOS LOS TIEMPOS, PERO ES ACEPTABLE, CON EXCEPCION DEL RIDICULO TOCADO QUE UTILIZA CUANDO APARECE COMO UN ANCIANO, PERO EN FIN...

ANTHONY HOPKINS HIZO UN GRAN TRABAJO COMO NOS TIENE ACOSTUMBRADOS, COMO ABRAHAM VAN HELSING.

TOM WAITS ES UN LOCO QUE NO ESTA LOCO POR MOMENTOS, MUY ACEPTABLE EN SU PAPEL DE RENDFIELD.

EN CUANTO AL RESTO DEL REPARTO, PUES HACEN UNA LABOR MEDIO CONVINCENTE. ALGO INSIPIDOS ESPECIALMENTE KEANU REEVES A QUIEN PARECE QUE VERDADERAMENTE LE SUCCIONARON LA SANGRE ANTES DE LA PRODUCCION, LUCE FALTO DE ENERGIA Y PERSONALIDAD, JONATHAN HARKER QUIEN ATRIBULADO Y TODO TRATA A TODA COSTA DE EVITAR QUE SU ESPOSA PASE A SER PROPIEDAD DE DRACULA, CLARO ESTO ES EN LA NOVELA, Y ESTA ES SOLO UNA ADAPTACION. SADIE FROST POR MOMENTOS INTENTA SER MAS SEXY DE LO QUE ES O DE LO QUE UNA MUJER ES, CLARO ELLA ES MUY SEXY. A WINONA RYDER CREO QUE LE FALTO UNA TALLA PARA SER UNA MINA HARKER A LA MEDIDA, PERO CON ESE AIRE DE INOCENCIA Y FRESCURA QUE TIENE COMPENSO UN POCO SU PERSONAJE. EN CUANTO A RICHARD E. GRANT PIENSO QUE SU Dr. JACK SEWARD ES PATETICO.

DRACULA ES UNA OBRA LITERARIA CON UNA CARGA INSINUADA DE SEXUALIDAD, LOS VAMPIROS SON SEXY DE POR SI, EN LA PELICULA ESTA CARGA APARECE BASTANTE DESINSINUADA. PERO DESDE LOS 80's A LA FECHA ESA ES LA TENDENCIA. CREO QUE UN POCO MENOS DE SEXO HUBIESE SIDO IDEAL.

COMO SEA ME GUSTA MUCHO, EL DVD NOS PRESENTA VERSION FULLSCREEN Y WIDESCREEN, CON LA PORTADA DE UNA DE LAS ULTIMAS PUBLICACIONES DE LA NOVELA POR ESOS DIAS.

EN TERMINOS GENERALES A UN BUEN PRECIO, VALE LA PENA TENERLA EN TU VIDEOTECA PERSONAL.
