Funny FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
Over the years I've kind of thought of "Boomerang" as Eddie Murphy's platform to fame. Well to be fair, he did have some movies behind him before this one, but none of them caught my attention as "Boomerang" did. "What goes around come around" seems to be the catch-phrase of this movie; Marcus is a real slick player, jumping and dumping each woman he comes across, but one day he meets the beautiful Jacqueline (Robin Givens) and the ball shifts direction. Jacqueline, a self confident business woman who beats Marcus at his own game, at the same time Marcus is handling a new commercial for the lucrative Strange (Grace Jones) and on top of all this Marcus realizes that he's slowly beginning to fall in love with Jacqueline! It all sounds interesting in theory, but the truth is that "Boomerang" is nothing more than a popcorn summer flick. That doesn't mean it's a bad movie, just that it's nothing extraordinary or anything.

Let's chat about the... interesting cast to say the least. We have everyone from Gerard Alan Grier to Eartha Kitt to Grace Jones! Yikes, the cast is what makes this movie worth watching alone. Robin Givens makes a good "Man eater" she does a good job, but I don't think she ever did a movie after this one! Maybe Mr. Tyson had her in chains? Eartha Kitt plays the lucrative "Lady Eloise" which is a perfect role for her; Grace Jones plays the eccentric "Strange" a woman with a pu... no man can resist (!) yeah, Grace is really naughty in this movie, even more than usual. But she's perfect for the role.

The soundtrack is another bright moment, it fits perfectly into the movie and the "special effects" evolving Grace (!) are also done brilliantly. Boomerang does have some pretty funny more (most of them evolving Grace) especially the little scene at the restaurant! "You're not gay, you just don't want to f.... me!" YIKES! I was watching this with my younger cousin and I had some explaining to do afterwards. Anyways, Boomerang is actually a pretty funny movie.

this movie really put eddie on da map before he wasn't on it any longer FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff. empty skull, sniff.
eddie was a nyc player who could get any girl he wish just like that eddie had two best friends that weren't on da level of getting female like eddie was but they were still very cool in their own way this is da film where it is said that eddie murphy discover chris tucker chris tucker was there for a few scenes but he was funny as he is now as da loud mouth skinny man and halle berry plays her really perfectly she is a normal looking woman even though she still looking extremely pretty while robin givens was da chick every guy drool over joe brown

I need a sequel! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
This is my favorite Robin Givens movie of all time. Yeah, Eddie's great too :-)

Robin Givens is underrated as an actress and unfortunately got blacklisted by Mike Tyson loyalists.

But her performance in this movie always makes me wish she had blown up like she was supposed to.

She is feminine beauty and sensuality personified and is exudes the type of womanhood I pursue for myself.

Why everyone went gaga over Halle is beyond me. She was invisible on the screen thanks to Robin's brillance.

Anyway, Eddie and Robin have crazy chemistry together. I love all their scenes. I wish he had chosen her to be with in the end and that they had both learned lessons about treating each other respectfully.

Maybe they can do a sequel where Eddie leaves Halle and returns to his one and only true love, Robin :-) Well, I can dream.

No, but seriously. Murphy, Hudlin: sequel please!

I hated Martin Lawrence's character. His scenes were so crude and cringe-worthy.

Grier and Rock were funny.

But most of all, I appreciate being able to see successful, intelligent, articulate, middle-class black people acting with sophistication.

Why can't I see more of this?
