Blank Check Reviews
Just Tell Me Where MY Money Is.
Blank Check is another childhood favorite, well former. This Disney adventure is often cited as "Home Alone Hits The Jackpot", and while Blank Check does suffer from massive plot implausibilities it is pure harmless fun. Well then again, I guess some may consider money laundering, deceiving parents, and pedophilia inappropriate lessons for children.
Anyhow, the movie's real strengths are the protagonist's semi-entertaining escapades and the likeability of young Preston. The performances are not exactly Oscar-worthy, but Ferrer and Bonsall are certainly amusing. I thought Wainwright's direction was fairly decent. The climax of the date between Preston and Shay is nice. And though the choice of music was mildly annoying, it could have been worse for a Disney flick.
Overall, Blank Check will probably more appreciated by younger viewers due to its extremely far-fetched ideas.
GENIUS!
Like a young Paul Newman, Brian Bonsall bursts onto the screen in his first full-length feature like an acting tsunami. And his acting chops are so powerful that he leaves lots of damage in his wake (much like the horribly tragic real-life tsunamis).
If you haven't seen this wonderful comedy yet, you must check it out immediately. Any hesitation on your part will only lead to minutes of your life that are ticking away in sorrow and despair.
The plot of this movie is that Brian Bonsall gets a lot of money and--whoo boy!--that's when the fun kicks in. What will this little kid do with all the money? Well, you better get this movie now and find out!!! Hint: he spends it on things.
I wish Skippy were in it too.
