Joyride through Time FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
The time-traveling misadventures of Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd has finally made its way to DVD with "Back to the Future" 4-Disc Box Set. "Back to the Future" was one of the most popular films of the 1980s and a surprising box-office hit in 1985. Director Robert Zemeckis (Forrest Gump & Cast Away) and co-writer Bob Gale successfully combine elements of humor and science fiction into an inventive and entertaining movie experience. The cast also includes Lea Thompson, Crispin Glover and Thomas F. Wilson. Its two sequels lack some of the energy and spirit of the original but are certainly quite enjoyable.

Universal's "Back to the Future" 4-Disc box set will satisfy fans who have awaited this release. Each film of the series is presented in 1.85:1 anamorphic widescreen format. The DVD contains a fine video transfer with bright colors but some minor bits of grain. The 5.1 Dolby Digital sound is surprisingly remastered with clear surround effects but a DTS audio track should have been included. This 4-Disc box set features over 10 hours of supplemental extras. It features audio commentaries with director Robert Zemeckis and crew, deleted scenes, outtakes, music videos and "Making the Trilogy" featurettes. With its many supplements, the "Back to the Future" Trilogy earns a satisfying "B+".

To everyone, here is the latest update about re-relase of corrected version !!!!

==============================
Dear MovieWatcher,

Thank you for contacting the Universal Studios Home Video-Online Store.

We are not currently shipping out the Version 2 (V2) of the 'Back to the Future' Trilogy, for online orders placed on the Universal Studios Home Video Website.

The online store is currently shipping item #22121,which is the original version.

This is the information we have from Universal regarding this issue:

-When the Back To The Future Trilogy was originally released in Dec. 2002, it became evident that the image on the widesceen versions of Parts 2 & 3 was misframed. It was not noticeable to the casual viewer, however, corrected versions were created. Consumers who wish to exchange their original versions are able to mail in their discs and have replacements shipped back to them.

*If you have already purchased and received the original widescreen version, please call 1-888-703-0010 for information on how to receive a pre-paid envelope to return the original version for exchange.

Since the original versions were not recalled, the corrected DVDs will gradually be sent into retail locations.

The only way to identify the corrected versions is that the new packaging has a "V2" printed near the bottom of the screen format/bar code sticker. This will indicate that the set contains the remastered versions of BTTF 2 and BTTF 3.

Good Luck..

By the way.. GREAT MOVIE! :) I am sure everyone of any age will enjoy this great adventure.. ;)

Part 1 looks great! Can now exchange 2 & 3! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
The picture quality of these dvds is really pristine, and the extras are quite nice, though I would have liked to see more interviews with supporting cast members.
As many people have noted, parts 2 and 3 seem to have been matted too high on the open matte original print, so stuff tends to get cut off the bottom of the screen, like Marty's jacket and hoverboard in part 2. Plus there's too much headroom on many of the shots as a result. I just called the Universal DVD return hotline and they are offering a free replacement of those 2 wrongly matted dvds. You need to send in the 2 dvds (without the packaging they came in) to:
Back to the Future DVD Returns
PO Box 224468
Dallas, TX 75260
You need to include your name and full mailing address, along with your daytime phone number and reason for exchange.
I also noticed that on Part 1 when I try to watch the commentary with Michael J. Fox that it cuts out and takes me back to the menu screen around chapter 8 or so. Not a big deal but I do think it's a glitch that occurs in some dvd players.
