My daughter's favorite!! 5 stars plus!! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
My daughter absolutely loves all her Baby Einstein videos, but Baby Beethoven is definately her favorite!! (Maybe it's genetic - Beethoven is her father's favorite too!) I bought Baby Beethoven for her when she was 2.5 months old, and at six months old, she is still fascinated with it! She loves the puppets (especially Pavlov - I wish they made a Pavlov puppet I could buy for her) and she gets so excited when she sees the little inch worm in the beginning - she knows that one of her favorite videos is on! We have other videos that feature classical music and I can see that she recognizes the pieces that she has heard on her Baby Einstein videos. Ode to Joy is by far her favorite! She gets so excited any time she hears it - on other videos, commercials, etc. I am so thankful that the Baby Einstein videos were available so that I was able to introduce her to beautiful music at such a young age.

Fast-forward through the first five minutes... FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! empty skull, sniff.
The "meat" of this video is as enjoyable as the previous two musical-themed Baby Einstein videos (Baby Bach, and Baby Mozart), but I am disappointed that Disney, who is now the parent company of Baby Einstein, chose to change the format we moms have come to depend on. When you have a crying baby, it's always great to just pop in a Baby Einstein video, because "the show" usually starts up right after the caterpillar creeps across the screen. Then it's usually 28 or so minutes of non-stop fun, followed by the "Hi, I'm Julie Clark..." advertising portion, and then on to the credits, which show each toy that was used in the video. This was always great because a baby would still be watching right up until the very end even though "the show" was over. Not so with the Baby Beethoven VHS! This video features a full five minutes of the newly redone advertising portion AT THE START OF THE VIDEO! This does not capture a baby's attention right away like all the other Baby Einstein videos. Also, since the ads are at the start of the video, the tape ends rather abruptly, and although the manufacturers of toys used are names, each toy is not shown again. This is a bummer if you want to buy any of the toys and you don't know what they're called. Aside from these couple of complaints, the video itself is good, but I would really recommend to Disney, for future Baby Einstein videos, that they please put the ad section at the end instead of up front.

A good one to start your collection FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
My four-month-old son just loves Baby Beethoven and Baby Mozart. Their very similiar in format -- lovely music, colorful toys, objects spinning, etc. So if you're looking for a couple Baby Einstein films to start your collection for your young infant, Baby Beethoven would be perfect. My son loves it -- he smiles and giggles when he knows it's coming on, he laughes and "talks" to the puppets, and wiggles his legs all around. I think I even saw his swaying or dancing one time.

So if your baby is very young (say, under 8 months or so?), I recommend sticking to this type of film -- where your child loves the colors, movements, shapes, etc. But be careful moving on to other Baby Einstein films. My four-month-old hated Baby Neptune, since it had more real life footage -- kids playing in a puddle, a whale crashing into the sea, etc. Not the most exciting for a young infant. I think it just has to do with colors and silliness -- my son even loves the VeggieTales DVDs -- and not an interest in seeing actual people.
