Angel - Season Three Reviews

How could this show get any better. FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
This is a great season my only problem was the end of this season was too cliff hangery. Stand out episodes are:
"Carpe Noctem"
"Billy"
"Quickening"
"Lullaby"
"Provider"
"Waiting in the Wings"
"Loyalty"
"Sleep Tight"
"Benediction"
"Tomorrow"
My favorite thing about this season is Summer Glau, from Joss Whedon's Firefly, was in "Waiting in the Wings" and what they did with Wesley in this season.
Extras: We get some good featurettes at last. Darla: Deliver Us from Evil, Season 3 Overview, Page to Screen are all great.
The series outtakes are funny, but there could have been more.
The screen tests for Amy Acker(Fred) and Vincent Kartheiser(Connor) are better then I thought they would be.
Deleted scenes: One is from "Birthday", a funny scene from Cordy's fake sitcom(which is called Cordy! by the way) with commentary by Tim Minear and Mere Smith. The scene and commentary are good, but I can see why it was cut.
The other deleted scene is from "Waiting in the Wings", Wesley has a daydream about himself and Fred dancing. Alexis Denisof is funny as funny can get in this. The commentary is by Joss Whedon, Joss's commentaries are always great.
The commentaries: All the commentaries on this set are funny and informal, I would have loved there to have been more.
The commentary by Tim Minear and Jeffrey Bell on "Billy" is just great. Minear is funny and enjoying himself here.
The commentary by Tim Minear and Mere Smith on "Lullaby" is not that informal but I could listen to Tim and Mere make jokes all day.
Commentary by Joss Whedon on "Waiting in the Wings" is the best of all the Angel dvd commentaries. Joss know just what to say and when to say it. Joss Whedon does great commentaries.

Buy this season for "Waiting in the Wings" and it's commentary, deleted scene and commentary for the deleted scene.

Angel is better than Buffy FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY! FULL SKULL BABY!
Angel just keeps getting better and better. Angel continues to be a fantasy world like Buffy but targetted towards adults rather than teenagers.

Angel is sometimes scary, often funny, often puzzling, occasionally heart wrenching but always action packed. And there are plenty of buff blokes, lovely ladies and foul fiends.

As a woman I'd like to note the aspect of this show that is more realistic than most other fantasy entertainment; the females in this series don't just pathetically squeel and hide in a corner when the demons arrive, they actually DO SOMETHING even if it's just to grab the nearest heavy object and wack the bad guy off the good guy's back.

The characters are far from static - changing significantly (but consistently with their character) as they respond to the challenges they face.

Most of the special effects are very effectively used to make the supernatural appear to be something real in this world (believable and not too corny).

Like the other seasons, each show reaches resolution of its own story but contributes to a bigger-picture storyline that is progressing but not resolved in this season.
