Along Came a Spider Reviews
The Game Is Far From Over!
Morgan Freeman reprises his role of Alex Cross in Along Came A Spider. This film is along the same lines as Kiss the Girls, which also stared Morgan Freeman as Alex Cross. This film was, in my opinion, not as good as Kiss the Girls, but is still a very entertaining movie.
Gary Soneji (Michael Wincott) is a brilliant but remorseless psychopath who has landed a teaching position at an exclusive private school in Washington, D.C. Using his extensive knowledge of kidnapping (he's taught a class on Charles Lindberg), Soneji abducts one of his students - Megan (Mika Boorem), whose father Hank Rose (Michael Moriarty) is a United States senator. Ollie MacArthur (Dylan Baker), the detective investigating the case, has strong words for Jezzie Flannigan (Monica Potter), the Secret Service agent who mistakenly let Megan slip through her fingers. But when the kidnapper contacts Dr. Cross, the psychologist is brought in on the case, and Cross seeks out Flannigan, who he believes might have a valuable insight into the case. Soon, Cross and Flannigan come to the terrible realization that this crime only represents the tip of the iceberg for the ruthless Soneji. Along Came a Spider also features Penelope Ann Miller, Jay O. Sanders, and Kim Hawthorne.
With a film such as this, Paramount could have included many more Special Features then they did. The only special features that were included are a theatrical trailer and a behind-the-scenes featurette. If you like Morgan Freeman and this type of story, then you will enjoy the featurette. Hey Paramount... where are the other supplements?
The menus on this disc were good. They were nicely animated with themed material, and are very easy to use. They might have been a bit more fun if there were more pages to sort through and also if they had animated page transitions. Nice job on the simple menu structure.
This is a good disc. Sure, it is very bland in regards to supplemental material, but the film, audio, and video are all quite good. If you like suspenseful movies like this, and special features don't really matter to you, you should buy this DVD.
not that great
I just finished reading the book by James Patterson, which was great, so I had some high expectations for the movie. The movie wasn't all that bad, but it was lacking. There is so much action in the book and I just don't understand why they didn't put more of that action into the movie. If half of the action scenes from the book were included in the movie, I guaruntee I would have given it at least two more stars. The worst part of the movie, in my opinion is when Alex Cross just so happens to guess the completely improbable password for Jezzie's computer. Not only that, but she has a picture of her rental house and all its information on her computer. Who does that?! Since he got all the information about the house on Jezzie's computer, he goes to the house and saves the day. That scene ruined the movie for me. If you liked the movie and haven't read the book, I strongly recommend reading it. The book truly puts the movie to shame.
